After The Holidays
What a rush...and I mean that in all the ways possible. These last three, maybe its been four, weeks have rushed by. We went to see family, family came to see us, we gorged on food and gifts, we celebrated a New Year, I was even treated to the last Dallas Cowboy game of the year by my father - an avid Rams fan (what a let down).
Things are now just getting back into a routine. I realize now more than ever how good routine is for my personal sanity. Maybe it is a product of old...er, yea, OLDER age. I like things a bit more orderly and organized than a free for all. Does that make me a curmudgeon? (Remember, if you can't say anything nice...)
At the moment, Jennifer is a permanent sub at the elementary school where Rachel and Abby attend. They've promised to put her on full-time (which would help us tremendously in the pocket book) but until she actually signs - we continue to live under God's grace - praying for nothing more than the sniffles -having no insurance. [I can't believe how expensive antibiotic are when you don't have an insurer. I'm not complaining - I'm grateful for drug/research companies. I'm just saying, "Wow!"]
I'm playing Mr. Mom, and will have a great opportunity to write if Jennifer actually gets this job. Noah and I are having great "bonding" time. He's a hoot. What is really nice is that he like being with me. It's fun hanging out with him. We'll see how long this father/son experiment can go without incident. I'm not expecting anything, just being watchful. (When I say incident - I'm thinking of something like, Noah putting a screwdriver in an electric socket, or worse, Noah quoting something from "Lord of the Rings," and that being the end of Mr. Mom.)
Hope your Christmas was a blessing and that your New Year is filled with contentment. Peace.

My favorite time with Riley was the year before he started kindergarten. You probably remember that he wasn't too terribly fun as a baby/ toddler, but by then he was so much fun to be around and we had a great time hanging out while Ashley was in school. I know you and Noah will have a great time.
Praying for the finality of Jennifer's job!
